Queen Snovari of Mini GlobelandWelcome to Mini Globeland. May the world be filled with globees! December 11 Invitation to Hong Kong for Taipo Mega MallHi Friends and fellow collectors,
I realized I have not been updating my space for a long long time. Sorry guys!
Last weekend, I was invited to host my first snowglobe exhibition in Hong Kong at theTaipo Mega Mall, one of the Sun Hung Kai properties.
More than 160 pieces of snowglobes is being showcase in this exhibtion and it lasts from the Dec 5th till Dec 28th.
At the grand opening ceremony on the 5th, 2 local celebrites, Sharon Chan and Tricia Chan were guests for the event. Together with me, we started the exhibition by placing 3 snowglobes on one of the exhibition stands.
The most popular snowglobes were the LV globe that was produced to commemorate the 1st year anniverary of the Champs-Elysees store opening, as well as my biggest snowglobe who has a diameter of 150mm. Last by not least, I have to feature my first snowglobe with the Cat and the Mouse which my husband gave to me as a Christmas present in 2000 and that's how I started my quest in snowglobe collecting.
Interesting, I have been interviewed by many local media, and I really felt "popular" at one point! Cool.
June 30 Invitation to Dubai for the Collector - July 14-23At the outset of the 11th year edition of Dubai Summer Surprises 2008, They have invited me to be a part of this one-of-a-kind event and represent China among the selected collectors around the world to participate in one of their signature events, The Collectors. The DSS which was first launched in 1998 has since grown over the years in leaps and bounds and celebrated the completion of a decade last year in 2007. Consisting of numerous exciting activities DSS has today become the ideal getaway for family entertainment during the summer months. The DSS slogan, 'Big Fun for Little Ones', reflects the intention of this celebrated summer event in providing families with abundant entertainment possibilities. In its first year itself in 1998, DSS saw a high visitor number of 600,000 visitors and over the years this number has grown to 2,100,000 visitors in 2007. Entertainment one of the main attributes of DSS has several events under its umbrella, one of which is The Collectors- scheduled this year from 15Jul – 22Jul, 2008 at the Wafi Mall. One of the most prestigious and successful events, The Collectors attracts a high profile of selected participants and places them on a pedestal of utmost exposure. With visitors flocking in to see the unique collections; and media rushing in to capture every single details, The Collectors has grown in multitudes in a very short time and is only aiming to grow bigger. I am so looking forward to participate in this event. August 23 Rising's Snowglobe CollectionToby Lee is a collector from Lebanon and he started collecting snowglobes 3 years ago.At first he collected both plastic and glass globes but lately he decided that the glass ones are much prettier. Currently, Toby has around 100 glass globes mainly the 65mm and some mini globes and also some very big ones. His collection focus on locations and he also likes the Disney globes. Unfortunately, no globe is available in Lebanon and his collection adds up through his trips to different destinations and he counts on his colleagues to buy him globes as gifts when they visit other countries. He would also shop from the internet.
Toby is trying to make some of his own globe, and he is hoping to create globe of his country which will have in it the famous CEDAR of Lebanon and the CITADEL of BAALBAK. July 22 Becoming an Official Guinness World Record HolderI have been notified by Guinness World Records last week that I have officially set the Guinness World Records for having the "Largest mini glass snowglobe collection in the world". Currently, I have over1200 pcs of mini snowglobes in my display room and the number is growing all the time.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank all my family and friends for your continuous support. Without you, setting this record wouldn't be possible.
Now that I have achieved my 1st goal, I want to carry on with my 2nd goal, which is to set up a Snowglobe collector's club. The club would enable snowglobe collectors to share their thoughts and ideas, to trade, buy and sell snowglobes with each other, to exhibit your snowglobe collection and finally, to get to know others who share the same interest.
I will be sending out emails to snowglobe collectors with a bunch of questions for you to answer. If you don't mind, please fill in as much information as possible and I will feature you and your collection in this site. My ultimate goal is to build my own snowglobe collecting website if I have enough club member. At the moment, I will start small. Later, I would consider publishing bi-monthly or quarterly newsletters and even hold annual gatherings. I have many many thoughts in mind, let me think them through and I will share with you all later.
Your participation are much appreciated and I really look forward communicating with you real soon.
PS: Being a member of Mini Globeland is totally free of charge! So please join the club!
cheers, Queen Snovari of Mini Globeland |
